Cell Culture Facilities

There are three cell culture laboratories in the Department, in which immortalized mammalian cells and primary fish cultures are studied for research purposes. The area surfaces of the laboratories are equal to approximately 10 m2, 20 m2 and 30 m2 and are fully equipped with 4 laminar flow hoods, 3 carbon dioxide incubators, 3 refrigerated centrifuges, 2 inverted microscopes, 3 containers of liquid nitrogen, refrigerators and freezers, water baths along with all the necessary basic equipment. These cell culture facilities are being used by members of the research laboratories of «Genetics, Comparative & Evolutionary Biology», «Animal Physiology», «Structural & Functional Biochemistry», «Molecular Biology & Genomics» and «Plant & Environmental Biotechnology». One of these laboratories is also used for educational purposes in the optional course «Cell Culture Technology» and in the graduate program «Applications of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Diagnostic Biomarkers».
