Academic Identity Card

The academic ID is a public document certifying that the holder is studying at the University and is eligible to all the discounts provided by applicable law, such as for the public transport tickets. Students can find all the relevant information and apply online for the issuance of an academic ID, throughout the academic year at the website of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

For the application through the online system the students will use the credentials that they received during their registration in the first year of studies. In addition, the seven-digit General Registry Number must be declared, as well as the address of the permanent residence and not the temporary one, in order to provide a discount on ticket prices for road, railway, ferry, etc. public transport when traveling within the country throughout the entire academic year upon presentation of the new academic identity card.

Beneficiaries of the academic identity card

• Full-time undergraduate students of the first year of studies, provided that they are not already holders of a university degree, for the number of years required to obtain the degree according to the indicative study program, increased by two (2) additional years.
• Part-time undergraduate students of the first year of studies, provided that they are not already holders of a university degree, for a period equal to twice the number of years required to obtain the degree according to the indicative study program.
• Students who are citizens of European Union Member States and third countries, who study at a Greek Higher Education Institution within the framework of the European Union mobility program “Erasmus”, for the entire duration of their studies at the Greek Higher Education Institution.

The termination of the student status for any reason automatically results in the cessation of the right to possess the special fare card, which in this case must be returned to the Secretariat of the Department.

In case of loss or destruction of the academic identity card, the reissue request is submitted only through the Secretariat, together with the student’s submission of the relevant official certificate of loss from the Police Department, and the student will bear the cost of reissuing the card. The new identity card will be collected from a specific distribution point selected during the application submission process, without any financial charge.
