Content – Aim of the course

The “Anthropology of Education and Modern Pedagogical Trends” course aims at introducing students of theBiochemistry and Biotechnology Department to contemporary pedagogical approaches and directions, andalso to their philosophical and anthropological underpinnings. The course further contributes to thestudents’ essential pedagogical education, in the sense that it enables students to perceive teaching not merely as a technique for the implementation of plans but, what is more, as a creative process of communicational interaction. Moreover, it cultivates the awareness of prospective Bioscience teachers to issues relating to the environment, the living world, bioethics and the social dimensions of education and science.

    • Assistance to the student toward adulthood and emancipation

  • Trends and systems of Pedagogy
  • Contemporary pedagogical problems:
    • Educational inequality and compensative education
    • Students with special needs and their education difficulties
    • Life-long education and training
    • Environmental education
    • Health education
    • Consumer education
    • Racism and Science: Genetics, Bioethics, Eugenics
    • Training in new technologies
    • Cross-cultural education
    • European dimension in education

Methodology of educational research: Qualitative and quantitative methods.

Assessment

Performance in the course is assessed by written examination.
