BSc: Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, School of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly
PhD: Systems biology in immunity and infectious pathologies, University of Perugia, Italy
Research Interests: Genetic control of insects of medical importance, with emphasis on Anopheles gambiae and its role in malaria transmission. Development, optimisation and evaluation of gene drives and complementary genetic strategies aimed at suppressing mosquito populations to interrupt disease spread. Generation and assessment of systems that adjust or limit the spread of transgenes in insect populations. Use of reverse genetic tools such as CRISPR/Cas9 to modify physiological systems in mosquitoes, -omics, bioinformatics and population studies in laboratory confined settings. Bridging fundamental vector biology and applied genome engineering for sustainable insect population management.
