Educational visit with hands-on activity for high school students

Final year high school students from various lycea in Thessaly, visited the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, at the University of Thessaly, Viopolis campus, Larissa, during the week of 3rd -7th of February 2025.

In the context of the outreach and liaison with society and as part of the celebrations for its 25th anniversary, the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology welcomed 158 students from 12 lycea in Thessaly. The researchers welcomed the students, presented their works at the laboratories, and informed them of general laboratory health and safety rules. The aim of the event ‘Biotechnologist for one day was to allow high school students with a focus on Health Sciences, to familiarize themselves with the basic principles of DNA recombination. Most of the students gave very positive feedback and recognised a successful interaction with the researchers of the Department.
