Bioinformatics

Content – Aim of the course
This course is offered to the students of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in the 4th semester. During the two hours/week lectures and the 3 two-hour practical courses the students are familiarized with the most important biological databases, with the principles, algorithms and implementation of Sequence Analysis, Phylogenetics, Genomics and Functional Genomics.

- Functional Genomics – technologies, data analysis and implementations

- Multiple Sequence analysis and Phylogenetics with the Seaview software
Practicals are mandatory and must be successfully completed for the students to be allowed to take part in the final examination.
